Driving miles saved yesterday & today: 12. Total thrivin' miles saved in 480 days: 3394
Yesterday morning we rode to the Y to swim; we were two of the first ones there so we were able to swim in our favorite lanes. Mile+ swims for both of us.
This morning we rode to Central Market for produce. The ride there is a gentle downhill; the ride home is uphill and the polka dot jersey is always up for grabs.
Our new favorite Central Market produce hack: instead of buying bags of greens that often turn before we can finish them, we discovered that purchasing greens from the salad bar costs pennies on the dollar. We put the greens in plastic produce bags instead of the heavier clam shell containers at the salad bar. We buy just enough for 2 or 3 meals at a time.
Today we also used this hack for berries as the price of strawberries, raspberries, and blueberries have skyrocketed in the last months. Next time we’ll buy just raspberries and blueberries, as they weigh so much less than strawberries. Always pinching pennies!
Also, for my friend,
, we found someone’s grocery list in an abandoned cart. There’s a story in that list.
MARY!!!!!!!! THAT LIST!!!!!!!!!! Might you grant me permission to write about it? I love the US-specific names for some of the items! What's the ninth entry? Bobo meat? I can't read the (otherwise beautiful!) handwriting!
I love the sound of those supermarket hacks - you're a very wise shopper! 🌟
